Girlfriend Getaways are what cures your soul

Google “girlfriend getaways” and you will be hit with a myriad of articles telling you that it’s been scientifically proven that time away with your girlfriends makes you happier, healthier, and can lead to a longer life.

And women everywhere read that and let out a collective, “Duh.”

Because we know it. And we feel it every time we get together. The camaraderie. The community. The laughter. All of it.

So why don’t we do it more?

There are a lot of reasons, but most of them center around the same idea. We are the caretakers. Of our jobs. Of our families. Of our marriages. Of our homes…..the list could go on and on.

But every once in awhile, we need to lay it down and be the caretakers of ourselves. Which is why I do what I do. I get to be the caretaker of other women who work so hard to take care of every one else.

So what kind of girls trip are we planning in the next year? Here I’ve listed a few of my favorites:

The Wellness Trip

2018 Advisor Contest

Wellness vacations are on the rise for 2019, and there’s no wonder why. Its a vacation in the truest sense. A chance to recharge in all the right ways, whether it’s via a swim up bar, a spa retreat, or a yoga and fitness escape. Wellness travel focuses on the whole individual – from spa resorts on land or at sea, to fitness camps, to full wellness retreats travelers have a treasure trove of options to create the perfect wellness getaway with your girlfriends.

The Culinary Experience

Culinary travel is an industry that is really coming up these days. Travelers looking for well-rounded culinary experiences that are immersive, interactive and educational needn’t look very hard. Itineraries for culinary experiences are a fun, interactive way to travel with your girlfriends, taking it a step further from traditional wine and dine options. Options can include dining with a local, taking a food-centric city tour, and actively taking part in food-sourcing and preparation.

The Wine Trip

You know that Napa was listed as one of my top destinations for a Girlfriend Getaway in 2019. But your options for wine don’t have to end there (although it wouldn’t be the worst place in the world to end up). A Bordeaux River Cruise through France, experiencing local vineyards is another option. Wine tourism is on the rise all over the world, and I bet you anything your favorite travel advisor can point you in the right direction for the best options wherever you want to go.

The options are certainly not limited to what’s listed here. There is hiking and adventure and so many more options. However you decide to spend your vacation, I hope you are taking the opportunity to do it with the ones that really know you – your girlfriends. For your own health and wellbeing. And if I can help you, you know where to find me friends.

Paris – the Perfect Girlfriend Getaway

I know – when people conjure up images of Paris, they are usually immediately flooded with all thoughts amoré, BUT what if I told you that Paris was more than one-love-dimensional? If you are not considering Paris for your next girlfriend getaway, you are missing a HUGE opportunity!

If you are trying to plan a girls trip this is why Paris NEEDS to be at the top of your list:

The city’s charm and magic doesn’t stop for the romantics.  In fact, people watching on the steps of Sacre Coeur is a task best reserved for you and your BFF.  There is nothing like watching the sunset over the city while sharing a baguette and watching the hoards of tourists try to not get caught by the friendship bracelet trap. People watching is better with friends!

There are no shortage of ways to see the city with your friends.  I have taken a lot of tours in Paris over the years. Different things with different friends and family and I always manage to learn something new. From free walking tours, to a bike tour, to a hop-on-hop-off bus, to a segway – there are no limits to how you can experience Paris.

There are photo opportunities that are just more fun with friends!

The opportunities for activity and fun are endless in this beautiful city! I recommend signing up for a cooking class and try your hand at making some tasty macrons!

Then when you are done, head out to Versailles and rent some bikes to explore the grounds!

It’s no mystery….this is what she really wants for Christmas.

Every year I hear the same thing from my male friends (and…ahem, husband): “She is  SO hard to shop for. I never know what she wants.”

Well guys, I’m here to solve the puzzle for you and make your life easier.

A vacation.  She wants a vacation for Christmas.

One of the best gifts you can give her is a completely planned trip where she is responsible for making zero decisions. Nothing. Photo by bruce mars on Pexels.com

A vacation? How am I supposed to give her a vacation? When am I going to have time to put all that together?

Well that’s when you call your favorite travel advisor!

You guys – it’s perfect! Trust me.  Call up a travel advisor and start planning now.  By the end you will have an entire itinerary planned out – hotel and flights booked, dinner reservations made, all activities planned and booked.  All courtesy of your travel advisor.  If they are really good they will even let you take all the credit.

And it can be a vacation for anything – a family cruise to the bahamas, a long weekend in Napa, a week jetaway to Europe, a romantic trip to Hawaii. Even (and this is my favorite) call up a couple of her friends and plan something for a girls weekend away.  You know, that way she can get a real vacation.

Can you imagine it? The look on her face when she opens up a box Christmas morning and it’s an itinerary with everything all planned out. All the guess work is taken out for her. You’ve done all the leg work.  Guys, we don’t even like picking out a restaurant at the end of the night. Planning a vacation is exhausting.  So let me help you. Fill out our form or call me today to get started planning the best gift you ever gave this holiday season.

Trust me, you’ll thank me later.

Until then, Happy Wanderlusting!

Special Passport Acceptance Fairs

Do you need a new passport? What about your kids? Good news! The Department of State is hosting special Passport Acceptance Fairs all across the country to make it easier for you to drop off and process your paperwork without needing to make an appointment ahead of time. A list of locations can be found here.  Events are ordered by date first and then alphabetized by state so you may have to scroll down to find an event near you. For most locations all you have to do is show up during the window.  If you are like me, you’ll want to show up first thing and be in and out to avoid the lines.

Most events are for first-time applicants and children using Form DS-11 to apply.

You will need  to bring with you:

  • Citizenship evidence (Commonly a certified birth certificate)
  • Photo Identification if you are over the age of 18 (Drivers license, military ID, government ID)
  • Proof of relationship (for children under 16 only – birth certificate, adoption decree, etc. BOTH parents must be present or you must have a special power of attorney to apply or provide evidence that you have sole legal authority)
  • A 2 x 2 in. passport photo.
  • Check or Money Order* paid to “Department of State” for the application fee (Adult $110 Child under the age of 16 $80) and a separate check or money order for the execution fee $35.

If you are eligible to renew your passport, you should renew by mail. For instructions, see Renew by Mail.

Passport processing times are typically 4-6 weeks for routine processing and 2-3 weeks expedited (for a fee). Be sure to take care of this sooner rather than later to avoid any issues with processing (i.e. returned photos, additional documentation requested, etc.)

It’s better to have your passport ready to go so if you decide to travel/cruise last minute, you can, rather than pay an expensive expediting fee or miss out on traveling all together.  If I can help you through the process please let me know!

Until your next trip,

Happy Wanderlusting! xo, K
